\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\tAccess to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation is a human right and a factor of social cohesion. One of the government's ambitions is to provide adequate and sustainable access to basic drinking water services to all Togolese.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t In an environment marked by deteriorating security and the coronavirus health crisis, access to drinking water is more than ever a priority for the Togolese government. By 2025, the government, in its 2020-2025 roadmap, aims to achieve an access rate of 85% at the national level. In urban, semi-urban, and rural areas, the objective is to reach 75%, 85%, and 95% respectively. Greater Lom\u00e9 is receiving particular attention, where it will be necessary to reach 80% and secure water supplies by mobilizing surface water.<\/p>\n Improving agricultural yields by controlling water for irrigation is also part of our mission, as is the sanitation of excreta and wastewater and rainwater.<\/p>\n Achieving these goals requires enormous investments. A strategy for universal access to water and sanitation is currently being finalized to this end. This strategy, which is based on the National Action Plan for the Water and Sanitation Sector (PANSEA), will provide visibility into the actions to be taken and their phasing.<\/p>\n In 2011, the proportion of the Togolese population without access to a drinking water source was 56.1%. Programs were designed to reduce this rate to 35% in 2017. In the 2020 state budget, which stands at 1,638 billion CFA francs, the Ministry of Water and Village Hydraulics received 14.872588 billion CFA francs for the implementation of its projects. For the year 2020, the overall implementation of projects and programs made it possible to achieve a national service rate of 60%. Depending on the residential area, this rate is 68% in rural areas, 53% in semi-urban areas and 58% in urban areas. <\/p>\n Several projects are underway and planned with the support of several TFPs in the three sectors to improve this rate. These include:<\/p>\n The implementation of the Water and Sanitation Project in Togo (PEAT 1) contributed to this progress in the towns of Atakpam\u00e9 and Dapaong. In Atakpam\u00e9 (Plateaux region), 1,474 private connections were made to extend the network to more than 14,000 households. A new pumping system significantly improved the production chain, serving the areas of Gl\u00e9lou, Gbat\u00e9kp\u00e9, and Tchakpali. A new water treatment plant is currently under construction on a site less than 10 km from the town. In Dapaong (capital of the Savanes region), work is underway to strengthen the Dalwak dam embankment. The entire aging electronic system of the water treatment plant has been replaced, and more than 1,100 low-cost drinking water connections have been made.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t In August 2021, Phase 1 of the Togo Water and Sanitation Project (PEAT-1) ended. This project improved and expanded the production and distribution chains in these towns (network extension by 14.9 km).<\/span><\/p>\n As part of Phase II of the Water and Sanitation Project (PEAT 2), three towns are beneficiaries: Kara, Sokod\u00e9, and Ts\u00e9vi\u00e9. The project aims to strengthen the pumping system in these towns. The pumps that pump water into the town will be replaced. In the town of Ts\u00e9vi\u00e9, a 750 m3 water tower and a 150 m3 borehole are under construction. PEAT 2 is funded by the European Union.<\/p>\n In these three locations, the construction and rehabilitation of water treatment towers and stations is planned, in addition to connection works to extend the distribution networks.<\/p>\n To achieve this, the Project to Improve Sanitary Conditions in Schools and Rural Areas in the Savanes and Kara Regions (PASSCO 2) aims to install 400 new human-powered boreholes in the two regions, i.e. 200 per region, rehabilitate 200 existing boreholes (100 per region) and build 200 ecosan-type community latrines (100 per region). Ultimately, 300,000 Togolese will benefit.<\/p>\n Beyond this, the PND-EAU, this ambitious project aims to contribute significantly to improving the quality of life and economic development of the population, through the construction and strengthening of drinking water improvement systems in urban and semi-urban centers throughout the national territory. This involves supplying the cities of the Savanes region from the Dalwak dam, creating a river intake to supply drinking water to the city of Mandouri, strengthening the supply system in Gando and Naki-Est through drilling, carrying out extensions and the master plan for the city of Lom\u00e9, etc. For the Emergency Project for the construction of drinking water works in rural areas, more than a hundred boreholes have already been drilled and others are in progress in the Savanes region to date by the Ministry's Mobile Brigade.\u00a0<\/p>\n In this same spirit, the Government, with the commitment of the Head of State, continues to make water and sanitation a priority. Thus, the State has committed, through the 2022-2024 PIP, to investing 75.061268 billion CFA francs to achieve the objectives of the Government's roadmap.\u00a0<\/p>\n A roadmap for the supply of drinking water in Greater Lom\u00e9<\/b><\/p>\n The objective of the Togolese authorities is to increase drinking water coverage in this part of the country to 80% by 2025. The strategic plan developed should serve as a guide in the implementation of drinking water supply projects for the Ministry of Water and operators in the sector, in particular the Water and Sanitation Heritage Company in Urban and Semi-Urban Areas (SP-EAU) and the Togolese Water Company (TdE).<\/p>\n The draft drinking water supply master plan for Lom\u00e9 was unveiled on September 22, 2021, while several initiatives are underway in this region. The projects underway in Greater Lom\u00e9 are: the "AEP-Lom\u00e9 Phase 2" project, which benefits the municipalities of Golfe 2, 5, and 6, as well as Ago\u00e8 nyiv\u00e91, Ago\u00e8 nyiv\u00e9 2, 3, 4, and 5. The project began in August 2021 with the construction of five water towers, including one of 1,300 m3 in the municipality of Golfe 7.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
